MICRONEEDLING PROTOCOL

What is Microneedling:

Microneedling is a facial treatment involving fine needles to create tiny, controlled punctures in the skin. This process stimulates the skin's natural healing response, promoting collagen and elastin production. The benefits of microneedling include improved skin texture, reduced appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, diminished scars and hyperpigmentation, and overall skin rejuvenation, resulting in a smoother, healthier, and more youthful complexion.

For the safety of your skin and the integrity of your results, microneedling treatments are performed exclusively during the cooler months. Warmer weather increases heat exposure, sun sensitivity, and the risk of post-inflammatory pigmentation, which may compromise healing and outcomes. By limiting treatments to colder seasons, we are able to better control environmental factors, support proper recovery, and ensure the most predictable results.

Clinical Protocol & Client Eligibility:

To ensure safety, predictability of results, and optimal skin response, all clients seeking Microneedling Levels 3–5 must first complete a minimum of one Signature Facial and follow our prescribed skin-preparation protocol.

This prerequisite allows our skin therapists to:

  • Evaluate the skin’s current condition and response to treatment

  • Establish a clinical baseline

  • Strengthen the skin barrier prior to advanced microneedling

  • Minimize risk while maximizing treatment efficacy

Only clients who have been assessed and approved as suitable candidates may proceed with advanced microneedling treatments.

Pre-Treatment Skin Preparation:

Once you have completed a Signature Facial and have been cleared by your skin therapist, you will be required to purchase a Vitamin A, C & E Oil specifically to strengthen the skin and support barrier function in preparation for microneedling.

For optimal clinical outcomes, this oil must be used consistently for a minimum of four weeks prior to treatment. Proper pre-conditioning of the skin improves tolerance, enhances collagen stimulation, and supports a more efficient healing response post-procedure.

Post-Treatment Home Care & Product Requirements:

Following your microneedling session, detailed post-care instructions will be provided. Strict adherence to the post-treatment protocol is essential to protect the skin barrier and support proper healing.

Included with Your Microneedling Treatment:

  • Apres-Cit Serum – A professional post-procedure serum included in the cost of your microneedling service and provided at the time of treatment.

Required Client Purchases:

Optional (Clinically Recommended):

Immediate Post-Treatment Care:

During the initial healing phase, it is normal for the skin to feel dry, tight, and sensitive. These responses indicate the activation of the skin’s repair mechanisms.

For the first 1–7 days, clients must use only the following products:

  • SkinBetter+ Cleansing Gel

  • Apres-Cit Serum (provided with treatment)

  • Vitamin A, C & E Oil

  • DMK EFA+ Supplements (optional)

Consistent use of these products will help calm inflammation, support barrier repair, and promote optimal healing.

Ongoing Care & Restrictions:

  • After Day 7, regular skincare products may be gradually reintroduced unless otherwise directed by your skin therapist.

  • Avoid alcohol-based toners for 10–14 days, as they may interfere with the healing process.

  • Avoid direct sun exposure for a minimum of 10 days to reduce the risk of post-inflammatory pigmentation.

  • Refrain from workouts, saunas, hot showers, or heat applied directly to the face for 72 hours, as excess internal heat may exacerbate inflammation.

Expected Recovery Timeline:

Healing responses vary based on individual skin type, skin resilience, and the depth of treatment performed. Some clients may experience noticeable redness and erythema immediately following treatment, while others may appear minimally affected with little to no visible redness. These variations are normal and do not impact treatment efficacy.

  • Day 1: Erythema and redness may be present and will vary depending on treatment intensity.

  • Day 2: A pink or red hue may persist, similar to a moderate sunburn. Swelling may be more noticeable.

  • Day 3: Skin typically returns to a normal or lightly pink tone as swelling subsides.

In areas treated more aggressively, mild flaking or peeling may occur and is considered a normal and temporary part of the skin renewal process.

If this is your first microneedling experience, our team will guide you through every step of the process and answer any questions or concerns you have during the healing period.

Results & Treatment Series

Results may vary based on individual skin type, condition, and skin resilience. For optimal and long-lasting results, a series of three to six microneedling treatments is recommended.

Treatment frequency will be customized based on your specific skin goals and concerns and may be scheduled weekly or every three weeks, as advised by your skin therapist.

*Your skin therapist will discuss with you which microneedling level is best suited for your specific skin needs and concerns.
